HOW SOON CAN I BEGIN TAKING LESSONS?

We accept new students on a rolling basis, and tend to schedule first lessons at the start of each month. (However, during the summer, availability for new students is limited.)  If you need to try and schedule a lesson ASAP (in preparation for an audition or recording session, or other deadline-driven event) we may be able to find a time, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. WHY TAKE LESSONS FROM YOU? WHAT SETS YOUR STUDIO APART?

In our Studio, we believe that every person has the ability to express themselves joyfully and successfully through music, with the right guidance. You should work with a teacher who makes you or your child feel excited about achieving goals and performing music. With thousands of hours of teaching experience, plus 30 years as a professional performer and recording artist, and as a graduate of the Juilliard School and alumna of the Perlman Music Program, I can confidently guide your progress as a musician.

We emphasize excellent technique and the pursuit of high goals, while also making sure that lesson progress is interesting and exciting, following each students' personalized "Musical Map." A spirit of collaboration and mutual support is very important in our studio, and our students often work together on group projects, in competitions, and more. We also have regular "Works in Progress" performance classes, where students practice performing for one another in a relaxed environment, enabling them to learn valuable public speaking, audition, and performance skills.

WHAT AGES AND ABILITY LEVELS DO YOU TEACH?  DO YOU WORK WITH BEGINNERS?

We have students of all ages and ability levels! We have students who are just starting on the violin, and others who are preparing for national competitions. Some of our favorite teaching moments have been with students who are beginners - including adult beginners picking up the violin or fiddle, or learning to compose, for the first time.

For violin and fiddle, we work with students age 4 and up. (Please note that all students under the age of 9 must have a parent or guardian present during lessons, so that they have help making progress in their practice.)

DO YOU TEACH IN PERSON OR ONLINE?

Most of our students work with us via Zoom only (we have over 15 years experience teaching via video!) but we also offer a hybrid online and in-person lesson schedule in West Milton, VT and Orleans, VT.

WHEN WILL I HEAR FROM YOU?

Our typical initial response time is 2-3 business days, so if you have an urgent booking request please put URGENT in your query subject line. Our inbox is closed on US national holidays, the last week in August and December, and the first week in January.
